Why do I need a host, isn’t wordpress free?
WordPress is freeware that you can use to maintain a blog, or even just a static website. You can use wordpress.com blogs for free. Using a wordpress hosted blog has a lot of limitations. A free wordpress blog seriously limits the look of your blog. You can not customize the blog, and even only a few of the available free templates they allow you to use offer an image upload for the header. You also can not install plugins. Plugins like the e-commerce store, search engine optimization, video comments, and a lot more that you see on this blog will not be available to you. You will have just a blog and thats it. Hosting allows you to install your own wordpress which you can customize any way you want! So the sky is the limit to what you can do with your hosted wordpress blog. When you get a host, you are not paying for wordpress, you are paying for the space online to host your website, and with this space you can do anything. You can add multiple websites to it, you can add more stores, email addresses with your domain, host pictures online, ANYTHING!
